Two taken to hospital following downtown collision

A two-vehicle collision at the intersection of High and Pleasant Streets in Morgantown Monday morning sent two people to the hospital and one of the cars into the side of a local restaurant.

According to the Morgantown Police Department, one vehicle with just the driver traveling south on High Street and the second vehicle, which carried three passengers, was traveling east on Pleasant Street.

Police say both divers claim the signal was green for them and continued straight into the intersection where they crashed.

The impact of the collision caused the vehicle on Pleasant Street to strike the side of the building of the Great Wall Restaurant. Two people from that vehicle were transported from the scene by Mon EMS. Their conditions were unknown at the time of this report.

Police on scene saw very minor damage to the building.

MPD Chief Eric Powell said no citations were issued at the time, but the accident is still being investigated.
