Murder suspect arrested in Ohio

An Ohio man wanted for murder in Harrison County was arrested in Akron, Ohio.

Kameron Darnell Griffin, 23, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force Fridday afternoon at a residence in Akron. He was wanted by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office.

Griffin and others are alleged to have kidnapped Dallion Lewis from his home in Hepzibah on March 21, 2023, with the intention of harming or killing him. Lewis’ body was later found on Jack Run Road with gunshot wounds that caused his death. Griffin is alleged to have shot Lewis two times during the kidnapping. The day following the discovery of the body, Dennis High, of Salem, was arrested and charged with murder. Two days later Jennifer Kirk, of Clarksburg, was also charged with murder. On March 2, Douglas Steiner, of Mount Clare, was charged with accessory after the fact.

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office and Greater Harrison County Drug and Violent Crime Task Force led the homicide investigation.

During the arrest, Griffin attempted to flee from the residence, but he was apprehended by perimeter officers.

“I commend the hard work of the investigators from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office and Greater Harrison County Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force,” said Terry Moore, acting U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of West Virginia.

Harrison County Sheriff Robert Matheny said, “This case highlights the great teamwork of multiple agencies in Harrison County. Thanks to the efforts of all the agencies involved, the subjects accused of this deliberate criminal act are now in custody.”

Griffin will be in Ohio for his initial appearance on the charges. If detained, he will be extradited to Harrison County to face trial.
