Morgantown Farmers Market kicks off winter markets at Mylan Park

After finishing up the summer market season at the Morgantown Market Place pavilion on Spruce Street, the Morgantown Farmers Market kicks off its winter farmers market season today at the Mon County Center at Mylan Park.

The market will be held from 10 a.m.-noon on select Saturdays December to April, and will feature a diverse group of farmers selling their local food and products.

Products sold at the Morgantown Farmers Market are all produced within 50 miles of Morgantown by the vendors themselves. Products available include fresh vegetables, herbs, baked goods, meats, eggs, jams, jellies, honey, maple syrup, woolen products, soaps, dried beans, flours, popcorn, kombucha, mushrooms and holiday decorations.

“We are really excited to have more vendors than ever this year at our winter markets,” said market manager Ali Howard. “You can get your favorite local meats and produce, as well as new items like local mushrooms and a diverse range of holiday gifts and baked goods.”

Of the 23 farmer-vendors slated for the winter markets, new vendors this winter include Mon Valley Mushrooms, Moyo Farms, Broken Boulder Farm, Dying Breed Ranch and North Elementary.

“Our market is self-governed by our Morgantown Farmers Market Growers Association and all vendors must grow or produce everything they bring,” said Howard. “Our customers know that they can trust the quality and integrity of the products from the market and that they are truly helping support the local farmers they buy from.”
