Man arrested following fatal crash on W.Va. 7 Friday

One person was killed in a multiple vehicle wreck Friday morning on Earl L. Core Road in the Dellslow area. The road was closed in both directions for several hours as authorities investigated.

Officials at the Monongalia County 911 center (MECCA) said the crash involved three vehicles, with one reported fatality.

Following the accident, a police manhunt ensued for Daniel Emerson, who fled from the crash scene. Emerson was eventually found on Pixler Hill Road and arrested. It is unclear what charges he may face in relation to the wreck and subsequent search.

On the scene near Homegrown Pizza, two vehicles could be seen, both completely destroyed. One vehicle appeared to be missing the entire front end, the other was missing both passenger side doors.

A Jan Care ambulance that appeared to have sustained front end damage was seen being towed from the scene when The Dominion Post arrived.

Damage was also done to vehicles parked on the lot at Creekside Motors car dealership, which shares a building with Homegrown Pizza.

Details surrounding the cause of the deadly crash, as well as the identity of the victim, had not been released by West Virginia State Police as of Friday afternoon.

This story will be updated as more details become available.
